ESOX 2, Hopkins 1
The Edina ESox completed a season sweep of Hopkins with a dramatic 2-1 victory in the second game of a home and home with the Berries. The tone of the game was led by starting pitcher Mark Schroeder who tossed a complete game, allowing 3 hits and striking out 11 batters.
Edina's offense was pretty quiet until right fielder Nate Briscoe tripled with two outs in the bottom of the 4th. Bobby Gregoire, who was 2-3 in the game, scored Briscoe on an RBI single in the next at-bat. This tied the score at 1-1 as Hopkins took the initial lead scoring on a wild pitch in the 3rd inning. The score remained tied until the bottom of the 7th when Dallas Jagelia walked with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Kirk Kenneally then grounded deep into the hole to shortstop Richie Wiese. Wiese, with little chance at throwing Dallas out at first, fielded the grounder and threw an ill-advised throw to first. The throw was high and allowed Dallas to score from second, clinching the win for the ESox who have won four Riverview games in a row.
