Lokesh Dhakar’s Fancy Coffee Drink Cheat Sheet

cappuccino New to the world of fancy coffee drinks? So is Lokesh Dhakar, as he admits on his blog.

I couldn’t figure out for the life of me where I’d heard his name before but I assumed he was famous for some reason. Any web developer that’s used the Lightbox technique before may have been thinking the same thing I was, for Lokesh is the guy who wrote that now-famous script.

Hello, Sansa Clip

sansaclip

SanDisk adds another contender to the super-tiny MP3 player arena with the Sansa Clip. It’s about the size of a box of matches, gets 15 hours of battery life, has an OLED screen, and handles FM radio and recording, voice recording, and subscription MP3 and WMA files. It supports Audible’s audiobook format as well and, if you hadn’t already noticed, clips onto things.

It’s NOT expandable, unfortunately, but it is relatively affordable. You can get the Clip in four different colors and 1GB ($40) or 2GB ($60) capacities. Available in late September.

Palm’s Response To Foleo Delay: Still Shipping On Time

foleo

Somewhat calming news after my tantrum the other day; Palm says that the Foleo will still launch “this summer” and that it hasn’t missed the original shipping date yet. So if Palm is to be taken at its word, rumors of the Foleo shipping on August 22nd were false, as were rumors of it being delayed.

hongkongbt Five months in prison for downloading Star Wars Episode III – that seems a little harsh, doesn’t it? Scott McCausland got just that plus he was ordered to replace his Ubuntu Linux operating system with a Windows-based system to ensure compatibility with court-ordered computer monitoring software.

sunvon

After SunRocket abruptly closed up shop a little over a month ago, there was a mad-dash by other VOIP providers to scoop up some 200,000 stranded customers. Not too surprisingly, Vonage was one of those providers. According to Sherwood Partners, the company in charge of selling off SunRocket’s assets, Vonage got a hold of and has been using one of SunRocket’s customer lists without permission.

So Long CableCARD, Here Comes DTCP-IP

dtla

What if you could plug your klunky, rented Comcast DVR box into your home network and stream its recorded and on-demand content to the computer in the other room? Well you’ll soon be able to do that thanks to a new standard called DTCP-IP. It’s hardly a revolutionary idea, but better late than never.
